We have 3 different breeds of cows that live here on Arethusa Farm.
Jersey's are known for their high butterfat content in their milk. Additionally, the Jersey breed is low maintenance with a obvious flare for personality.
The Brown Swiss breed is the second highest milk yield after the Holsteins. Known for their longer-chain fatty acids, the Brown Swiss's are a great addition to our production. Their milk contains an average of 4% butterfat, 3.5% protein, making their milk excellent for cheese.
Known globally as the world's highest-production dairy animal. Although at Arethusa we have consitent milking procedures, the Holstein's are seen as the production queens of all cows.

We're busy keeping our cows warm and cozy during these New England Winter months. Therefore, our farm is closed until Spring.
